Hawaiian
Cat
She was old when I found
her. Battle scars from wars unknown.
She was a nondescript brown tabby mix who
finally found a loving home.
Her front leg was badly crushed, perhaps she had
been hit hard by a truck.
The Vet would have to amputate but would she be
able to beat Lady Luck?
They Said "How old is your cat"? I said I really
did not know.
He said she surely used up eight lives. I said
I knew this was so.
Would have it been kinder to allow her aura to
rise?
I immediately knew the answer when I looked into
those emerald eyes.
Now you have a three legged cat but even so she
might do well.
This is the part of the story I will now tell.
She spent her days under a covered lanai
trying to stay out of harms reach. The slightest
sound would make her jump.
I knew it made it hard to breathe. She was such
a trooper. I would pick her up at night.
It always took a little while for her body to
relax after being so up tight.
I called her my beautiful Zeiskite. She fell totally
in love with me. I gingerly nursed her back
to health but she was losing ground I could see.
She would come to greet me.
I would pick her up and carry her inside.
Oh God thank you for this precious gift. I'm so
glad she did survive.
Four years past and she grew weak. She now slept
on the cool kitchen floor.
Her dignity and spirit never once waned. She was
the cat I so
much admired and adored. Her time was nearly ending
but she
stayed real close to me. I dared not think of
life without her.
I knew she yearned to be free.
I felt her body jerk. There was a curdling sound.
My
dearest furry beloved one
would now be Heaven bound.
I kept her closely with me until the light of day.
I chose a semi sunny spot where I used to see her
roll and play.
I called it her Rainbow Garden. There is one bloom
indeed so rare.
I can only describe as a furry type orchid. The
color of my lovely
Zeiskite's hair.
Lovingly when I tend the flowers I know I hear
her say.
"When your time is done at my garden I will watch
for you to come my way.
You will have your reward in my kingdom. You will
see me whole and never hurting and meek.
I can climb the highest trees again and land solidly
on all four feet."
Yes you took a long shot chance on me.
I had another go at life. I did my best to cope
and get strong.
I was wronged but you made it right. You always
said "don't judge a book by its cover".
The same went for a challenged cat like me.
You looked beyond my trials and tribulations. I
thank you for taking
such great care of me.
ALOHA
Hawaiian nights have brighter skies
It is because you are now a shooting star
Rest well my furry beloved one. Your journey has
taken you far.
It is not the end but a new beginning for both
for you and me.
I'll tend your Rainbow Garden for you until we
do it together in
Eternity.
